“ We love coming to Entremont for our holidays. The chalet always welcomes us home, whether it’s just us, our children, or all of us including both sets of grandparents. There’s always enough room for a big family holiday.
In the winter, we enjoy skiing 10 minutes away in Le Grand Bornand and La Clusaz, and then we come home tired, to a log fire and big dinner in the kitchen. We hire our skis from the village ski shop and go cross country skiing on the Plateau des Glieres. It’s only fifteen minutes away, with few tourists bothering to go there, but it’s one of the most beautiful and unspoiled places that we know.
In the summer, the Plateau has a big fête to commemorate the great battles the Resistance fought in WWII, and there are many walks to enjoy. It’s a perfect spot to pick blueberries and cranberries, and then come back to the chalet to make a little jam. We go mountain biking, and hiking, and sometimes we’re lucky enough to find chanterelle mushrooms on one of our walks and we bring them home for a very special dinner.
There are swimming pools in both Grand Bornand and La Clusaz, but it’s just 35 minutes to the beautiful Lake Annecy where you can swim and boat, and canoe, and roller blade or bike around the lake. You can even go parapenting. There are markets in Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz, St Jean de Sixt, Thones and Bonneville each week, selling Tomme and Reblochon and locally grown fruit and vegetables. And when we can’t be bothered to cook, there’s some really good local restaurants and auberges around here that we enjoy going to – the auberge here in Entremont, or in St Jean de Sixt, La Clusaz or Le Grand Bornand.
We hope that you too, will enjoy staying in our chalet in Entremont. There’s something for everyone here whether you’re the sports enthusiast, the gourmand or just the sort or person who wants to relax, read a good book and enjoy the stunning views from the chalet.
